MNF Vikings vs. Texans

Brett Favre will make his Monday Night Football debut against the Houston Texans next Monday. This will be Favre's 2nd preseason game as the Vikings starting quarterback. The game will be aired on ESPN at 8:00 (ET) and 7:00 Central Time. In a press conference earlier today head coach Brad Childress expects Favre and the starters to play the entire first half. This will give the national audience a chance to get a good look at what Favre and the Vikings can do, I can't wait. Please leave comments, thanks!

  1. I would like to see the line block a little better for A.P. and the Qb. from what I saw they kind of made the 2nd team look better than the first team.

  2. I would agree ... hopefully this will be the game where we see #4's first TD in purple!

  4. haha brett favre lead the vikings to a super bowl not a chance this year. maybe nxt year he'll have a chance the north division is to tough with the packers and bears. i give the vikings a playoff spot but favre will choke in the end

  6. I wonder if Favre still has it in him??

  7. duh, of course he has it in him. reports have said he can still throw the ball 60 yards. some nfl qb's in thier prime cant do that. yes, he has thrown it 72 yards in his younger days so he has lost some but "chilly" said he can hear the ball buzzing thru the air. i'm 27 and can't, never could, do that. i played baseball and football for 3 years in h.s. and still play softball, workout regularly, prolly harder than favre. some have it, some dont. he's got it.

  8. The thing is ... can he keep that arm healthy for 16-20 games! I like the "chilly" reference!

  9. he lead the nfl in touchdowns with a broken thumb on his throwing hand. the biceps is repaired i doubt that the rotator cuff will bother him much

  10. I gaurantee with Favre the Vikes will barely win 8 and miss the playoffs. The team hates him right now. How would you feel if you were set to start and a guy does is show up on a private jet and get the starting job without throwing a ball. The team will have issues left and right with him. I want them to do good but i just don't see it happening.

  11. i guess is just dont understand all of this favre bashing. i've always held the man in the highest regards. when his dad died the whole country was on his side and he destroyed the raiders when they didnt suck. people only see him as a nfl qb. he's a man. a man who has gone thru some horribly painful things in his life and he keeps on going. how can anyone not admire that? how is it even concievable to say anything bad about a man who has played the game the way he has? i cant even begin to imagine how much pain his 40 year old body goes thru on a daily basis. oh yeah, he holds all the records. what are you saying about dan marino, john elway, jonny u, all the greats when you say brett favre sucks? he was better than them so they must really suck. look up the stats for troy aikman and steve young who was a recent hall of fame inductee and look up favres. he doubles them. yeah, he sucks. ****heads.

  12. Dont try and guilt trip us into liking Favre.

  13. i dont think they hate him. resent him.....maybe. and thats prolly temporary. most of the players in the nfl right now grew up watching favre and love him as much as the rest of us sane people. t-jack can not and never will be able to do things that brett can. thats not a knock. hundreds of qb's before and after brett haven't and wont be able to either.

  14. people can dislike someone for any number of reasons i guess. maybe someone was in love with thier own father but thier father in his in the closet gayness was in love with brett favre. i can see that child growing to hate him. but anyone with basic math skills has to respect him.

  15. hahah interesting way of putting things!

  16. Why do you need basic math skills to respect him?? Why not basic football knowledge. I admit he was a good player. Hall of fame player. But again, WAS. He needs to put the cleets away and start making more Wrangler jean commercials.

  17. sorry. i am a realist and as a realist i am constantly amazed at what he has done. i was too young to see or remember any of the other great qb's in nfl history. but i do get to watch brett. and so does everyone else. to break nfl records the way he has is special and we get to see it every week. if some people are too ignorant to appreciate that i guess thats thier problem.

  19. here's a little story and some basic observatinos for football impaired. a few years ago jon gruden built the raiders into an impressive team the were one tony seraguesa cheap shot away from the superbowl. jon gruden left and went to tampa where he went up against the team he built in the superbowl and destroyed them. after the game john lynch said of rich gannons wholly uncharacteristic 5 interceptions, "we knew every play they called". of course they did thier coach coached the other team the year before. this is relavant because the packers are good. very good! have you watched them? dom capers can and has turned defenses around overnight and he did with the packers. this division will come down to inter-division records and the packers are just as good as us. we will win because of brett favre. or as john lynch would say "we knew every play they called".

  20. Great example! With the packers changing to a 3-4 defense this year also gives us a "leg up" ... I have a feeling that this is the year!

  21. i watched both of the packers games this year. the recievers are just as good as last year, the line looks alot better. rodgers hasnt been touched yet. no kidding he hasnt. and he looks dangerous now. and the defense is flying to the ball. they look amazingly fast, i checked, all the same players. though you wouldn't be able to tell. same players way different defense. the packers are going to be difficult for anyone to beat.

  22. Packer will fall flat on their face. Pre season means nothing. The Bears will stomp them first game. Bears and Vikes will be fighting for the north. Green Bay? Who knows! Their D is still terrible.

  23. I think that they will show some growing pains from changing to a 4-3 to 3-4!
